Another Video???

So we might be overdoing it some with the videos but we think bella is just so fun to watch that we had to put her on the blog via video again! She absolutely loves playing on her activity mat.. actually she just looks at everything on the activity mat right now.. not so much "playing" but it is very stimulating for her.

This week has gone really well with going back to school. Scott loved being back on seminary campus and he is now starting the continual reading for the semester. He has 11 books to read and several big papers for just 2 classes. Crazy! My class is just more for fun than anything.. I get to learn how to make orthotics and such. I have a 4 hour lab tomorrow where we will be molding foot orthotics. Fun fun!

We are counting down the days until labor day weekend when we get to head to Missouri. 1 more week!

Purple Blow Pop!

Somebody apparently gave Bella a purple blow pop today!
Either that or... we are using Gentian Violet to treat thrush - a yeast infection. But either way, my babies mouth is purple! They say it comes off in a couple days, but I giggle when I look at her smile with a bright purple mouth. I feel like I have to explain myself when we go out so people don't think anything bad.

7 weeks and counting...

Hi everyone!

We do not have much to report on. Bella is still growing and learning everyday. She is now 7 weeks old.. time is flying fast! Here is a picture of her trying to fall asleep in mommy's arms. I love the way she is propping her head on her hand.

Today we went to church today. Bella does good at not interrupting the preacher.. but she seems to sleep through the sermons.. hopefully she doesn't do that when daddy is her preacher.

We can tell that she is starting to see farther because she finds great delight from things like the sun hanging above her swing and pictures on the wall. Here is a video of her with her mobile (about 1 minute long). Look for her super cute smile at the end!!

Other interesting things.. Scott and I joined Urban Fitness (a local gym) and are starting to workout again. Scott has been running and is looking to run a 5K later this fall. I might join him if I can keep up. Scott also is starting softball with our church's Men's league. He had practice today and really enjoyed hitting the softball way over everyone's heads. We will be sure to post pictures when he has his games.

This coming week Scott and I both start our classes. Scott will be driving to Louisville on Monday's for two classes and I will have one class on both Wednesday and Friday. I know that a lot of woman work 40 hrs/wk when their baby is 6 weeks or so.. I cannot imagine that and am fretting over being gone only 6 hrs/wk. I know it will be just fine though and probably really good for me to get out of the house anyway. Hopefully Bella will be easy on Scott while I'm gone.

Oh.. and another thing.. I've learned that Scott is super good at swatting flies! We have 8000 flies in our house because we often leave the backdoor open for Libby to go in and out.. (which is starting to change due to the influx of flies...). Soo... if you ever need to get rid of a fly.. call Scott and he can take care of it!

Good Sleeper!

Now I was going to post yesterday and share how Bella slept 7 hours in a row the night before.. it was super! And I hoped she would keep it up, but last night was 4 hours... so, maybe some day she will be consistent, but I still must say that I am very happy she is sleeping well at night. Whenever she wakes up for her nightly feed it only lasts about 30 minutes and then she goes straight to sleep. Life is much more restful now then those first few weeks.. that is for sure! She is starting to take naps during the day in her bed now too.

These pictures are above her changing table. Everyday I grab one or two pictures and show them to her. She loves them and smiles really big after studying them really hard. Wouldn't that be neat if she already recognized Carter & Ellie over Labor Day when she meets them?? Okay maybe she isn't that developed yet.. but it would be neat!

And we just bought Bella some jeans the other day and so I had to show how cute she was in them.. and also, we've been trying to teach her to laugh, so it sort of captures that too.

Isn't she just sooooooooooo
CUTE!

Libby Says...

Mommy and daddy don't know I did this...

I think I look better in the hat anyway!

(So i may be a little jealous...)

Full day of fun!

Bella wanted to share with everyone all about her fun day today...

Today we had a fun saturday! I got to go to the gym to workout.. or really, i let mommy and daddy work out while I played in the nursery with another baby. I had a great time!

Then my mommy dressed me up in my favorite strawberry outfit and we headed to the mall. I rode around in the stroller and went to stores like Dillards, JcPennies, Boardwalk Treats (i didn't get to eat the candy though), and the Disney Store. I found the cutest little hat....

I came home and ate my dinner then played on my activity mat for a bit and then worked my eye muscles out by watching my mobile for a bit. I enjoyed my time with mommy the best though.. daddy video taped my cute smiles and I made sure to give a shout out to the family. Feel free to watch my cute self in action!

Bella at 5 weeks old

Oh how exciting life has been for the past 5 weeks together! On June 29th our lives were forever changed. The moment came for Bella to enter the world and mommy Jill wasted not a minute in pushing our little bundle of joy into the world. Daddy Scott even found the stomach to watch the entire event and was emboldened so much as to sever the umbilical cord and experience that sacred ritual of fatherhood. In the subsequent weeks we have had our fair share of trials. At times baby Bella decided she did not want to eat or even poop for that matter. Mommy has heard countless advice about breastfeeding throughout all her challenges in the matter. The story of baby Bella's life thus far has been eating, sleeping, and being stared at by mommy and daddy. However...the twinkle in baby Bella's eyes has brightened and we can begin to see that we are going to have our hands full. We create this blog today to share with our family and friends all of our experiences for their joy and outright amusement. ENJOY!
